  • Introduction of SDPPI Certification in Indonesia
    Certification introduction Indonesian General Administration of resources SDPPI(DirektoratJenderal Sumber Daya dan Perangkat Pos danInformatika) is the regulatory authority for formulating, planning and implementing standardization policies in the field of radio and communication, and has the function of public service .It can issue a license for the radio spectrum, including monitoring the interference and imbalance of the radio frequency spectrum. It is an organization with the ability of wireless / communication testing and certification.。 Wireless communication products entering the Indonesian market must comply with the local technical specifications of Indonesia and pass the type certification and customs inspection of sdppi in Indonesia. The General Administration of post and Telecommunications of Indonesia (DGPT) has imposed a mandatory ban on companies outside Indonesia as holders of type approval since June 2009. Authentication mode 1.Send samples to the local laboratory in Indonesia to arrange testing (The lead time is longer and the cost is relatively preferential) 2.Paperwork method: accept CE reports from overseas Indonesian accredited laboratories for certificate transfer application without sending samples for local testing (short leadtime and relatively high cost) On July 28, 2020, SDPPI issued the extension of paperwork treatment for HKT (referring to mobile phones, laptops and tablets) and non HKT products. The reports issued by overseas accredited laboratories within 6 months from the implementation date of the decree are still acceptable (including 16 overseas accredited laboratories for the latest HKT products and 72 overseas accredited laboratories for non HKT products), The above certification processing methods and the list of overseas accredited laboratories will be constantly adjusted and updated according to Indonesian policies (Indonesian policies are updated frequently)) Certification process Send samples to local test lab for testing 1.Prepare test samples and certification data and submit them to AGC Certification Department and project department (forecast)) 2.The laboratory forecasts the products and sends them to the Certification Department 3.The Certification Department will send the samples to the local laboratory in Indonesia for testing and submit corresponding data 4.After the test is completed and all data are complete, submit it to SDPPI for review, and SDPPI certificate will be issued if it passes the review Paperwork mode 1.   • Product Safety of Electrical Appliance and Materials-PSE Certification
    An Outline of Regulations of the Electrical Appliance and Material Safety Law In April 2001, The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) formulates Electrical Appliance and Material Safety Law (DENAN) for the purpose of entrusting the state's authority to the private third-party organization. It also aims to regulate the manufacture, sales and export of electrical appliances and materials. And foster voluntary activities to ensure the safety of electrical appliances and materials, so as to protect consumers from hazards caused by the electrical appliances and materials. Definition of Electrical Appliance In Article 2 of Electrical Appliance and Material Safety Law, it specifies the 1st to the 3rd items as Electrical Appliance. 1.Parts of electrical facilities for general use (meaning electrical facilities for general use as prescribed in Article 38, paragraph 1 of the Electricity Utilities Industry Act (Act No. 170 of 1964)) and machines, appliances, and materials used in connection thereto, as specified by a Cabinet Order. Almost all electrical appliances and materials belong to the first category. In short, electrical equipment specified in the electrical safety law refers to electrical equipment connected to 100V or 200V AC commercial power supply in homes, offices (it is not necessary to appoint a licensed Chief Electrical Engineer) or agricultural workplaces. As DC general electric equipment is not actually used at present, DC equipment is not specified. For CD recorder connected with the AC adapter using the connector, the AC adapter (including the connector attached to the AC adapter) belongs to electrical supplies, while the CD recorder host does not belong to electrical appliance. 2.Portable Power Generators Specified by a Cabinet Order It specifies portable power generator with voltage between 30V to 300V. 3.Storage Batteries Specified by a Cabinet Order It specifies a lithium-ion battery whose volume energy density of each single battery reaches a certain value and it is not for a specific purpose. The unit volume energy density of each single battery is more than 400wh / L, and it is not included in products for automobiles, electric bicycles, medical devices and industrial machinery.   • Introduction of new generation Bluetooth Audio (LE Audio) – Audio Rendering Control
    LE Audio LE Audio is based on Generic Audio Framework which consists of four building blocks for integrating in different audio products. Generic Audio Framework of LE Audio is a middleware designated for configuration and utilized by upper Profiles. The middleware includes Audio Content Control, Audio Rendering Control, Audio Topology Control and Audio Streaming Control. Each building block uses Client/Server mode defined in the GATT specification so that Client can send control command to Server to modify value of characteristic and also Server can initiate sending change of its characteristic value to Client via Notification. Architecture of LE Audio is illustrated in picture below, the blue areas mean completed and adopted specifications and the gray areas mean specifications that are under development. The specifications in red box of the lower right corner are the latest Audio Rendering Control related specifications which were officially adopted by Bluetooth SIG on 15 Dec 2020. Audio Rendering Control is defined based on Volume Control Profile (VCP) which includes Volume Controller and Volume Renderer roles. Volume Controller is acted as GATT Client while Volume Renderer is acted as GATT Server. Volume Renderer as GATT Server must support Volume Control Service (VCS) and may optionally support Volume Offset Control Service (VOCS) & Audio Input Control Service (AICS). The relationship of Audio Rendering Control related Profile and Services is illustrated in picture below: An example of Audio Rendering Control implementation in actual product is shown in picture below. AICS is applicable for devices with multiple audio input types and VOCS is applicable for devices with multiple audio speakers.   • Introduction for the new generation Bluetooth Audio (LE Audio) - New audio codec LC3
    LE Audio  Bluetooth SIG introduced and demonstrated new generation Bluetooth Audio – LE Audio in CES 2020.  Classic Audio operates on the Bluetooth Classic radio while LE Audio operates on the Bluetooth Low Energy radio. LE Audio will not only support development of the same audio products and use cases as Classic Audio, it will introduce exciting new features that promise to improve their performance as well as enable the creation of new products and use cases. New Audio Codec LC3 LC3 means Low Complexity Communications Codec. Bluetooth SIG organized members including world class audio codec R&D companies to develop the new codec by using state of art audio codec algorithms and finally LC3 codec was adopted and released by Bluetooth SIG on 15 Spec 2020.  All LE Audio Profiles will be required to implement the advanced LC3 codec.  LC3 is an efficient Bluetooth® audio codec for use in LE Audio profiles. It is capable of encoding speech and music at various bitrates and can be incorporated in any Bluetooth audio profile. To increase the audio quality, it is strongly recommended to implement PLC (Packet Loss Concealment) at receiving ends of audio connections. The role of PLC is to conceal the effect of unavailable or corrupted frame data for decoding (an example of PLC is provided in the LC3 codec specification). Some of the technical properties of LC3 include: ●It is a block-based transform audio codec ●It provides a wide range of usable bitrates ●It supports a frame interval of 10 ms and 7.5 ms ●It supports the following bit depths: 16, 24, and 32 bits per audio sample ●It supports an unlimited number of audio channels ●It supports the following sampling rates: 8 kHz, 16 kHz, 24 kHz, 32 kHz, 44.1 kHz, and 48 kHz The new LC3 provides higher quality at the same rates as SBC, or even better quality at a much lower data rate. LC3 supported codec parameters are listed in following table: Providing high quality even at low data rates, LC3 will bring tremendous flexibility to developers, allowing them to make better design tradeoffs between key product attributes, such as audio quality and power consumption. There are different ways to judge the quality of a codec. The most common way is live listening comparison for people to listen and compare the audio after it has been compressed and decompressed. Other ways include standard quantitative methods for measuring performance of audio codecs, such as the one shown in the graph below that compares the performance of LC3 to SBC.  A few notes about the above graph: ●The X-axis represents various bitrates for each SBC and LC3 ●The Y-axis represents a grading scale (0 ~ 5) as defined in ITU-R BS.1116-3 (PDF), which presents Methods for the subjective assessment of small impairments in audio systems If you look at the 345-kbps bit rate for example, you’ll see that SBC scores a value just above 4.0, whereas LC3 scores an even higher amount with less than half the bit rate (160 kbps) The release of LC3 represents the completion of the second of the three key building blocks. The Bluetooth SIG member community is currently hard at work developing new profile specifications that define interoperable support for existing and new audio products and use cases, including hearing aids and Audio Sharing. As we’ve learned in this article, the new LE Audio standard, including LC3, marks a very exciting and important milestone in the development of the Bluetooth® technology standard, one that will enable the advancement and innovations in wireless audio for years to come!     Summary Japan PSE is mandatory safety certification, evidence of the electronic electrical products has passed the Japanese electrical product safety act (DENAN Law) or international IEC standard safety standard test. Japan DENAN electrical and electronics products can be divided into two categories: A specific electrical products (specified products), including 116 kinds of products; B non - specified products, including 341 kinds of products. Specific electrical product must be authorized by the Japanese ministry of economy of the third party certification body products and factory test equipment inspection, issuance of PSE certification, certification valid between 3 to 7 years, and labeled with PSE diamond in products. Non specific electrical products is proved by means of self-examination and declare conformity of the product, and labeled with PSE circle on the product. Japan's benchmark electrical product safety technology has two kinds: (1)The province to item 1 benchmark, refers to the domestic technical standards; (2)The province to item 1 benchmark, that is coordinated with the IEC standards.
